Six Tips to Get Your Son Excited for His Senior Session
Senior boy parents, are you struggling to get your son even remotely excited about senior pictures? If the answer is YES, res assured that you are not alone! A lot of guys feel a sense of dread when it comes to being in front of the camera. Fortunately, I photograph a lot of guys, and I have a few tips to help you and your son have a great senior session experience:
Hire a photographer who specializes in high school seniors. We are used to working with teenagers, so we're good at connecting with them, helping them feel comfortable and posing in a way that is natural and relaxed.
Get them involved with the planning. Make sure they're included in the consultation with the photographer. This allows everyone to meet face-to-face and to share exactly how they want their photos to look and feel.
Encourage them to express their personality with clothes, props and the location. This may require a little compromise; make sure they love most or all of their outfits, even if you don't love everything. It'll make them happy, and you will all love your photos a lot more if your kid is happy
Go shopping and get something new. We all love clothes that make us look and feel our best.
Bring a friend to the session. Friends will help your senior relax and get really great, genuine expressions. And the session will be more fun if they have a buddy to hang out and laugh with.
Tell your senior how much these photos mean to you. One thing I know for sure is our kids want to make us happy, so make sure they understand that this is a big deal for you.
